COLUMBUS
Rita M. Cooley, 75, of Columbus, died at 10:35a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Rita was a clerk at Rays Marathon.
She loved cooking for her family, gardening, and canning.
One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver, and Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until the time of service on Wednesday.
Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Born on June 4, 1942 in Hodgensville, Kentucky the daughter of Elbert Curtis and Talmage Lucille Bailey.
Survivors include her sons, Ken (Debbie) Cooley of Columbus, Steve (Ha) Cooley of California and Lloyd Cooley of Michigan; stepson, Kevin L. Cooley of Oregon; her companion of 28 years, Steve Bryant of Columbus; brother, Jim (Faye) Bailey of Kentucky, sisters, Mary (Steven) Wages, Shirley Bailey and Louise Brinson, all of Illinois, and Virginia England of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Chris and Timothy Cooley; brothers, Bill, David and Ray Bailey and Darrell Lewis; and a grandson, Adam Cooley.
