Dancing to make a difference

The 19th annual Dance Marathon, from 8 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday at Central Middle School, attracted hundreds of high school participants and adult volunteers. During the 10 hour event, students dance, dine, play games and learn about dating and domestic violence. Students are from Columbus East, Columbus North, Columbus Christian and Hauser high schools. This year’s co-chairs were Paige Beales, a December graduate of Columbus North, and seniors Natalie Ryan and Katherine Richardson of Columbus East. Dance Marathon proceeds help support services for the Columbus-based Turning Point services, such as a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing and legal assistance for victims. It also provides prevention education and programming.
