FULLERTON, Calif. — A former Fullerton police officer accused of falsely claiming a suspect resisted arrest has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Miguel Siliceo was charged last year with a felony count of filing a false police report but he pleaded guilty Monday to a lesser charge of misdemeanor battery.
He could have faced up to three years in jail.
The Orange County Register says Siliceo filed a report alleging that a suspect he pushed in a crosswalk had resisted arrest but prosecutors said body camera footage from other officers showed otherwise.
Resisting-arrest charges against the suspect were later dropped.
