Design firm seeking public input on Commons playground

The public will have another opportunity to offer input about the playground at The Commons.

Representatives from Hitchcock Design Group be at the playground from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at The Commons, 300 Washington St., said Randy Royer, principal with the design firm.

Royer said he and his colleague, Camille Shoaf, will be talking with parents and handing out questionnaires to collect input and feedback concerning the playground.

The city hired Hitchcock Design Group, based in Naperville, Illinois, for $32,000 to develop a design study tied to the playground. A meeting was conducted Monday evening in the lower level of The Commons, but Hitchcock decided to seek additional feedback since the meeting earlier this week wasn’t well attended, Royer said.

Individuals can also fill out an online survey that will be available through March 9 and can be found at thecommonsplayground.com/survey. The information gathered through the survey and public meeting will help Hitchcock come up with several conceptual designs for the playground, Royer said.
