BOWDOINHAM, Maine — A Maine county sheriff says a woman who succumbed to injuries inflicted in her home “died as a result of the actions of another person.”

Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry said it was premature to describe Beulah Sylvester’s death as a homicide and deleted a Facebook post that referred to her death as a “potential homicide.”

Police responded to a report of a heart attack Monday and found Sylvester seriously injured in her Bowdoinham mobile home. She later died at a hospital.

The Maine Department of Public Safety will not disclose how Sylvester died. State police are investigating the woman’s death.
