PITTSBURGH — A man critically injured in a Pittsburgh house fire that killed two other men has been charged in their deaths.
Authorities say 58-year-old Vincent Smith faces counts of homicide, arson and abuse of a corpse. It wasn’t known Wednesday if he’s retained an attorney.
The body of 71-year-old homeowner Steven Pariser was found after the fire was extinguished Monday. The body of 54-year-old John Robert Van Dyke was found there Tuesday.
Authorities say Smith was fighting with Pariser and Van Dyke over marijuana when he beat them and threw them down the basement steps, hiding their bodies with trash bags and clothes. He then allegedly poured an accelerant inside the home and started the fire.
Smith said he had lived in the home “on and off for three years.”
