PINE TOP, Va. — A Virginia man is charged with murder in the death of a 23-year-old mother-of-two whose body was found days after she was last seen.

Maj. Michael Sampson with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office told news outlets Thursday that TerriLynn St. John’s body was found covered in leaves Thursday morning, about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from where she disappeared Tuesday.

Sampson says 23-year-old Alvin B. Keyser led detectives to the body. Sampson says Keyser told police he had confronted her over comments made about him, pushed her out of his van, strangled her and left her body in the woods.

Keyser is charged with first-degree murder and concealing a dead body, and more charges are expected.

It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
