Police: Paraphernalia, meth found in vehicle

A traffic stop near 13th Street and Grand Avenue for a minor traffic violation led to the arrest of two local people on drug-related charges.

Officer Drake Maddix stopped the vehicle at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and spoke with the vehicle’s two occupants, Goldie C. Reed, 35, of 1361 Grand Ave., and Dustin O. Perdue, 33, of 8995 W. County Road 550S.

He then asked for a police canine to come to the scene, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officer Branch Schrader arrived and canine partner Argo detected the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, Harris said.

Officers then found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, Harris said. Reed and Perdue were arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, Harris said.

Reed was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $62,500 bond, jail officials said. Perdue was released from jail as part of the probation department’s pretrial diversion program, jail officials said.
