WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police in Washington, D.C. say a man a has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a woman.

A Metropolitan police news release says 41-year-old Jessie Taylor was charged with second-degree murder while armed.

Officers discovered 49-year-old Bernadette King inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined there were no signs consistent with life.

Police did not comment on motive or say whether there was a relationship between the victim and the suspect. It’s unclear if Taylor has a lawyer.
