Columbus Christian falls

DAYTON, Tennessee — Columbus Christian was within five points at halftime Thursday, but Arthur-Okaw Christian from Arthur, Illinois, pulled away in the second half for a 54-42 win in the final pool play game in the NACA Division 5 Tournament.

C.J. Reed led the Crusaders (15-22) with 18 points. Conner Emily added 13.

Columbus Christian, which dropped all three games to finish fourth in its pool, will play in a placement-round game at 12:30 p.m. today.

North, East win events

BLOOMINGTON — Three Columbus North girls won individual events, and Columbus East took the girls 4×400 relay Wednesday night in the Bloomington South Indoor Invitational at Indiana University.

North’s Adrienne Salemme won the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches), Jahna Smiley took the high jump (4-11) and Arig Tong captured the 1,600 meters (5 minutes, 32.5 seconds). East won the 4×400 relay in 4:38.89, and the Bull Dogs were second in 4:43.11.

North’s Sydney Wheeler tied for second in the pole vault (8-0), and East’s Elena Stoughton tied for second in the high jump (4-10). North’s La’monica Smith finished third in the 60 (8.42), the Bull Dogs took third in the 4×200 relay (1:54.62) and Brown County’s Vivien Crimmins was third in the 60 hurdles (9.98).

On the boys side, North’s Daveed Jolley won the long jump (20-5 3/4). Brigham Kleinhenz finished second in the pole vault (13-3), Logan Abbott took second in the shot put (45-9) and Hunter Huser was third in the high jump (5-10). The Bull Dogs finished second in the 4×200 relay (1:34.59) and third in the 4×800 relay (9:05.76).

Brown County’s Wyatt Wyman and Marino Dolph took second and third in the 1,600 in 4:33.0 and 4:34.0, respectively.
