ECRU, Miss. — Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a shooting in Mississippi.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that the shooting occurred around 9:20 a.m. Thursday.

Ecru Police Chief Matt Stringer says officers responded to an emergency call at Patino’s Auto Service and Repair Shop, where they found a man who had been shot in the abdomen.

Police say the shooting victim, Juan Patino, gave them a description of the shooter who drove off in a small red car.

The victim was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center. The newspaper did not report the victim’s condition.
