ARLINGTON, Va. — Police have arrested a man who they say posed as a maintenance worker and sexually assaulted an apartment resident last May.

Arlington County police said in a Monday statement that 25-year-old Richard Allen Lowe, of Washington, was arrested Feb. 22 in connection with the May 7, 2017 assault.

News outlets reported at the time that the suspect entered the building through the parking garage and knocked on multiple apartment doors, announcing himself as a maintenance worker. He scuffled with the victim after she opened her door and then sexually assaulted her, before fleeing on foot.

Police credit forensic evidence and other investigative efforts with identifying Lowe. He’s charged with abduction with intent to defile and malicious wounding.

It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
