PHOENIX — Four people are in custody after authorities say armed robbery suspects led officers on a long chase in a stolen car across the Phoenix metro area.

Phoenix police say the fourth person was arrested late Tuesday afternoon after briefly barricading himself in a building.

Officers began chasing a car that reportedly had been stolen in an armed robbery and then used in a commercial burglary several weeks ago.

The car swerved through traffic and ran lights before authorities used a stop stick to shred its tires.

The male driver then abandoned that car — leaving behind two people who were detained by police — and allegedly carjacked a pickup truck.

He later ran inside an apartment building and was arrested.

Police haven’t released the names of the suspects yet.
