PEORIA, ILL.
H. Dean Erickson, 85, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Butlerville, Indiana, passed away at 10:23 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Hawthorne Manor of Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 W. Lake Ave., Peoria, Illinois, with Jeff Leeman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens Mausoleum with military honors.
Dean was born on February 14, 1933 in Commiskey, Indiana, a son of Erick B. and Hattie (Higdon) Erickson.
He married Mamie Shane on April 5, 1969 in North Vernon, Indiana. She survives.
He is also survived by his son, Andy (Christa) Erickson of Peoria; grandsons, Ethan and Chance Erickson, both of Peoria; twin brother, Gene (Ann) Erickson of Wilmore, Kentucky; and sister, Martha Hughes of Edina, Minnesota.
Dean proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
He worked for 10 years as a plumber at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center.
He also worked for 18 years at Western Union Telegraph.
He was a member at VFW Post 2021 in North Vernon, where he volunteered on many burial details.
