JAMESTOWN, Tenn. — A Tennessee man has been charged with murder and arson in connection with a house fire last year.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 47-year-old Johnathan Donavan Smith of Morgan County was indicted by a Fentress County grand jury on one count of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated arson. He was served in the Fentress County jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges.

The case involves a residential fire in Grimsley on Dec. 2. The TBI said the body of Melissa L. Durham was found inside the home.

It wasn’t clear whether Smith was represented by a lawyer.
