Complaint of cigarette smoking leads to 4 arrests

Four people were arrested at a Columbus motel room after police were sent on a complaint of people smoking.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday, officers were sent to Motel 6, 161 Carrie Lane, and spoke with several people inside the room, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers confirmed they had a warrant for Shannon E. Hadley, 22, of Columbus. While searching Hadley’s bag, officers found marijuana, a syringe containing methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, Harris said.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the room and recovered several syringes containing liquid methamphetamine as well as other drug paraphernalia. Officers also located a loaded handgun under a bed in the motel room, Harris said.
