State police, sheriff deputies investigate two accidents on southbound I-65

Indiana State Police and Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are working on two  accidents in the southbound lane of Interstate 65 near the 77 mile marker, which is near the Edinburgh Premium Outlets exit.

In the first accident, which was reported about an hour ago, a semi jack-knifed and went into the median, state police said.

In the second accident, which occurred within about a half-mile of the first, a semi and a van collided resulting in injuries to two people, state police said.

The southbound right lane of I-65 is closed at the accident scene and traffic is backing up to mile marker 80, state police report.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
