1) Laughter becomes one of the best medicines to fight cancer at 7 p.m. Friday when the Stand Up For Life benefit unfolds at the Pixy Theatre, 111 S. Walnut St. in Edinburgh. The evening will feature stand-up and improv performers, sketch comedy and more, according to organizers. Cost is $10 per person (must be 17 or older). All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. 2) I love the cats that we have had, but how can you not love dogs, too? So I salute Hope leaders who have organized the St. Patrick’s Day Pooch Parade beginning at noon March 17 on the historic Hope Town Square. People can register for a variety of divisions beginning at 11 a.m. the day of the event. Bartholomew County Humane Society, City of Columbus Animal Care Services, Neuter Scooter and Paula A. Pollitt Animal Shelter will be present, and animals will be available for adoption. Registration fee is $5 and benefits the Paula A. Pollitt Animal Shelter in Hope.
