WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Reynolds American Inc. says it is giving most of its 5,500 employees a bonus of $1,000 bonus after federal corporate tax reductions.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported the one-time bonus will cost Reynolds American’s parent company, British American Tobacco PLC, nearly $4.5 million.
The corporate tax rate was cut from 35 percent to 21 percent in late under the new tax law passed by Congress.
Reynolds spokesman David Howard said the bonus will be paid to “all regular, full-time hourly and salaried employees” of Reynolds American and its subsidiaries, including senior managers.”
Howard said the bonus will be paid Friday.
Reynolds has about 2,100 of its employees in Forsyth County.
