KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — There are more lane closures planned as work continues on Interstate 40 Business in North Carolina.

The state transportation department said in a news release that an inside lane on the road west of Kernersville be closed through early April. The agency says it’s part of the work on the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway.

Work will begin Monday night and run through early morning on April 2.

Engineer pat Ivey said the lane closure is needed to widen a shoulder, which will then be used for a traffic lane while work is done on a bridge for the new interchange.
