OREGON CITY, Ore. — Clackamas County authorities say two shooting deaths in West Linn were a murder-suicide.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says the 911 caller who summoned police to a home in the Portland suburb said 34-year-old David Cote arrived Wednesday carrying a large firearm with a scope. He then shot 35-year-old Bethany Noelle Schuch multiple times before dying from a self-inflicted wound.

Investigators say Cote and Schuch knew each other.

Nearby schools were placed in a brief lockdown during the investigation.
