ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police believe a hot plate a woman was using to keep warm while staying overnight inside a car may have caused the fire that killed her.

The woman, in her 30s, was found dead Monday morning in northwest St. Louis. She has not been identified.

Police told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the car was behind a home where several cars in various stages of disrepair were being kept. The woman had plugged a hot plate into a nearby garage.
