NEW YORK — A New York City man now faces life in prison on charges related to a botched robbery that left a man dead.
Bryan Panarella pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in January and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison Monday. The Daily News reports the charges stem from a 2015 robbery that left 26-year-old Gavin Becerra dead from gunshot wounds to the torso and legs.
According to a criminal complaint, Panarella and two accomplices had set out to rob Becerra and his twin Derreck, who was also wounded in the shooting but survived.
Panarella admitted to the charge in exchange for a lighter sentence, and he apologized in court Monday.
The two accomplices’ cases are still pending.
