Traffic stop leads to three arrests

Columbus police arrested three local residents on drug-related charges after a traffic stop near 11th and Franklin streets.

Officer Lukas Nibarger stopped the vehicle at 8:45 p.m. Monday for having only one working headlight, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Nibarger spoke with the driver, Shelby L. Bense, 21, of 3618 Nicholas Lane, and passengers Lance R. Krebbs, 21, of 1220 Eighth St., and Skye N. Bailey, 21, of 3561 S. Gladstone Ave., Harris said. A short time later, a police canine was sent to the traffic stop and alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.

All three of the vehicle occupants were detained and police found marijuana in Bense’s purse during the search, Harris said. While searching Krebbs, officers found methamphetamine inside one of his pants pockets, Harris said. Officers also found marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that belonged to Bailey, Harris said.
