Traffic stop results in arrest of Greenwood woman

A Greenwood woman was arrested on drug-related charges after being pulled over on U.S. 31 for speeding and having only one working headlight.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kris Weisner stopped the vehicle at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. 31 and Commerce Drive, deputies said. Weisner identified the driver as Brittany V. Ward, 24, Greenwood.

As Ward opened the glove box to get her vehicle registration, Weisner saw a marijuana pipe inside, deputies said. K9 Bolt was sent to the scene and alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle, deputies said.

Deputies found two baggies of a green leafy substance, suspected to be marijuana, in the vehicle.

Ward was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, deputies said. She has since been released from the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
