Letter: Women need to get out, vote more in primaries

From: Pat Walkos

Columbus

I recently had lunch with one of my sons, and we were discussing many things political. Among them was the subject of voting. He told me that only 25 percent of registered voters in this county voted in the primary elections.

I had not voted in many primary races over the past few years as I did not think it was that important and that my vote didn’t really count. I thought that the presidential races were the only important ones, and I always voted. All I can say is what a dummy I have been.

Due to my lack of knowledge, people were elected at the grassroots level that should never have gotten as far as they did. Shame on me!

I hope that women of this county and state will wake up and step up and get out and vote in all of the future primary elections. We have a voice, so let’s make sure that it is heard. If the world is going to change, then we must help our brave young people change it.
