Vectren is reminding customers that as the end of the hearing season approaches, the regulatory moratorium preventing energy companies from disconnecting customers who have received utility heating assistance expired Thursday.
Customers who have received a disconnect notice or need bill payment assistance are urged to contact Vectren at vectren.com or call 800-227-1376 to make payment arrangements to avoid possible disconnection.
“Extremely cold temperatures in December and January led to high gas usage and spikes in natural gas bills this winter,” said Mike Roeder, Vectren — North president. “As a result, we know some customers may be experiencing financial hardship or have found themselves behind on bill payments. We want to remind them of the programs, resources and payment options in place to help manage costs.”
