HAMPTON BEACH, N.H. — Officials in New Hampshire released a rehabilitated seal into the ocean over the weekend.
WMUR-TV reports the Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Rescue Team released the harp seal named Mack into the ocean at Hampton Beach State Park Sunday. The seal was dehydrated when rescuers found it in February at Hampton Beach.
Center president Jim Chase says the rescue program is a great way for the organization to “connect people to the ocean.”
The center rescued a young gray seal in Seabrook earlier this month. It is recovering at the National Marine Life Center in Bourne, Massachusetts.
Officials say Mack will likely make his way back to Canada and the Arctic.
