Local teen hits vehicle, accused of impaired driving

A teenager is accused of driving off Marr Road and hitting four vehicles parked at a business, resulting in his arrest.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Corey Lehman was sent to the accident at 8 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of North Marr Road and East County Road 550N, deputies said.

There, Lehman found Hayden Zapfe, 19, 5120 E. County Road 800N, behind the wheel of a Ford F150 pickup truck, deputies said.

Zapfe was driving south on North Marr Road when he drove off the road at East County Road 550N and hit four other vehicles that were parked at a business near the intersection, deputies said.

Zapfe had marijuana in his possession and displayed signs of impairment, deputies said. He was also operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, deputies said.

Zapfe was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana, deputies said.

He has since been released from the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
