City to begin spring yard waste pickup

Columbus will be picking up loose leaves, grass and pine needles during garbage collection days starting Monday. Leaf vacs will be collecting the loose debris through April 13.

From April 16 to Dec. 14, yard waste debris must be in a compost toter, which will be collected with brush the same day as trash pickup, according to the city.

The city requests that small piles of tree limbs be stacked next to the curb, while grass, leaves, flowers and garden debris should be placed in compost toters.

An armful of sticks and twigs can go into brown trash toters each week with no limbs or wooden materials allowed in yard waste toters, according to the city. Toters and brush should be out by 7 a.m.

Individuals who have large piles of brush are asked to call the Columbus Department of Works at 812-376-2509.
