PORTLAND, Ore. — A former Clackamas County probation officer has been sentenced to just over 35 years in prison for repeatedly raping two girls beginning when they were 5 and 7.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports Clackamas County Circuit Judge Michael Wetzel on Friday sentenced Gordon Mead Jr. for rape, sexual abuse and sodomy of the two girls, which occurred separately between 2004 and 2012.

A county jury found the 69-year-old Mead guilty of the charges on March 2.

Court documents show one of the girls told her parents about the abuse in November 2015 when she was 12 and police were notified.

She also directed investigators to the older victim, who had told her that Mead had abused her as well.

State records show Mead worked for the Clackamas County parole and probation office from 1983 until he resigned in May 2001.
