Acting group performing ‘Our Town’ at theater

The Jennings County Players will bring Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” to the stage April 6 to 8 at the Park Theatre Civic Centre after a year’s delay.

The three-act play focuses on the lives of the Gibbs and Webb families in the early 20th century as they deal with love, marriage and death. Faith Boardman and Will Stark will star in the lead roles.

“Our Town” has been in production since January. It had originally been planned for April 2017. After director Keith Maine suffered a stroke, the show was postponed for another season, and the Jennings County Players put on the musical “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” in its place.

One year later, Maine is directing again and will have his chance to finally produce “Our Town” with fellow director Grace Maine, his wife.

“We are so grateful that they postponed production and we are able to perform this amazing play for the community,” Grace Maine said.

“Our Town” is the favorite play for both directors, and Keith Maine performed in a production of it during his senior year of high school, Grace Maine said.

This is the second play directed by both Keith and Grace Maine, and his third time directing a play.
