COLUMBUS
Evelyn Louise Mitchell Bailey, 88, of Columbus, passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Bailey was born October 25, 1929 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Frank and Corrine Forler Mitchell. She married Robert E. Bailey on November 23, 1950 in Seymour, Indiana; he preceded her in death March 11, 2007. Also preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Harold Mitchell; sister, Maxine Greeman; brother, George Arnold; daughter, Susan Parker on October 21, 2001.
Mrs. Bailey was the Guidance Secretary at Columbus East High School from its opening in 1972 until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her brother, William “Bud” Mitchell of Saraland, Alabama; son, Tim (Janet) Bailey of Howell, Michigan; son-in-law, Richard L. Parker of Tipton, Indiana; grandchildren, Abigal Parker Kindelsperger of Chicago, IL, Hannah Bailey of Royal Oak, MI, Mitchell Bailey of Grand Rapids, MI, Wil Bailey of East Lansing, MI; great-granddaughter, Mira Kindelsperger of Chicago, IL; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers at Journey North.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father James Brockmeier officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
