Columbus police arrested four people on suspicion of operating while intoxicated in a 24-hour period over the weekend.
The arrests began with at 5:05 p.m. Friday when Sgt. Ben Goodin was sent to a store on State Street after a witness reported a man driving a car nearly hit her vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Officers stopped Matthew T. Hunsberger, 57, Columbus, near State Street and County Road 300E, Harris said. Hunsberger provided a breath sample and was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangerment and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent.
Shortly before midnight on Friday, Sgt. Josh McCrary stopped a speeding vehicle near 8th and Iowa streets, Harris said. McCray identified the driver as Scott W. Glauber, 45, Greensburg. Glauber later provided a breath sample of .127 percent and was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated, Harris said.
At 1:06 a.m. Saturday, Sgt. Jennifer VanVactor located a suspicious vehicle in the 1800 block of 10th Street. Upon arriving, VanVactor noted the vehicle was partially in the yard of a residence, but was still in gear and still running. VanVactor woke up the driver who was identified as Alma A. Ordonez, 28, Columbus, Harris said. After Ordonez failed several field sobriety tests, she was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for a blood draw. She was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Harris said.
In the fourth incident, Goodin was sent to the 1600 block of Brian Drive at 4:55 p.m. Saturday about a possible impaired driver after witnesses said a truck driver was driving recklessly. Officers found the vehicle and spoke to the driver, identified as Samuel D. Allman, 44, Columbus, Harris said. Allman provided a breath test sample of .273 percent and was later transported to the hospital for a blood draw. He was then taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, police said.
