DECATUR, Ga. — Authorities are searching for a man accused of fatally stabbing a 14-year-old girl and a man in Georgia.

Decatur police Sgt. John Bender said in a statement that the department is searching for 36-year-old Royce Stewart on two charges of murder and one count of theft. WSB-TV reports this isn’t the first time Stewart has been wanted in a slaying; court records show Stewart was wanted on murder charges in 2003 for an 18-year-old’s death.

The sergeant says police were called to the stabbing at Trinity Walk Apartments across the street from the Decatur Police Department at 9:35 a.m. Sunday and found 14-year-old Shykia Ward and the man dead. The man is not being identified until his next of kin is notified.

Decatur schools are making grief counselors available.
