COALVILLE, Utah — Officials say at least one person has been killed and more than 20 cars are involved in an accident on a snowy and icy northern Utah highway.

The Utah Highway Patrol says in a statement that the Monday morning accident on Interstate 80 near the junction with Interstate 84 in Summit County involved 20 to 30 vehicles.

Troopers say at least one person has died and multiple ambulances are at the scene.

Officials have closed I-80 in the area in both directions.

Troopers did not immediately have details on how the crash unfolded.
