TULALIP, Wash. — Authorities say search and rescue crews found skeletal human remains on the Tulalip Reservation while searching for a missing Everett man in an unrelated case.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says the remains were found Sunday in a wooded area in the 9900 block of 27th Avenue Northeast.

Detectives believe the remains are several years old.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will work to determine identification, cause and manner of death.

The remains were discovered during a search for Jacob Hilkin, who disappeared in January after being spotted at a homeless camp near Quil Ceda Creek Casino.
