NEW YORK — New York City police are searching for a man who they say slashed a 26-year-old woman in the face during a botched robbery on the subway.

Police say the attempted robbery happened Sunday afternoon on a train traveling through Harlem.

Nadia Kashem tells WABC-TV she was sitting down when the suspect tried to grab her purse. Kashem fought back before the man punched her and slashed her face.

The suspect fled the train without anything.

Kashem was treated for injuries to her face at Lincoln Hospital.

No arrests have been made. An investigation continues.
