INDOT asks for public’s help in cleaning up roadways

The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning a Trash Bash the weekend of April 13 to 15, inviting the community to join INDOT crews to pick up trash and debris from roadsides.

On average, INDOT invests about $4.3 million and more than 60,000 labor hours to pick up litter on state highways each year.

The effort will focus on two-lane roads with lower traffic volumes.

To be part of the effort, contact INDOT at 855-463-6848 or email [email protected] to be connected to a coordinator who will assign a cleanup location, provide a briefing on roadside safety, provide safety vests and trash bags. INDOT crews will dispose of all bagged trash that is collected.
