CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A federal judge has sentenced a gang member in North Carolina to 13 years in prison for her part in the murders of a businessman and his wife.

The U.S. Department of Justice says Briana Shakeyah Johnson was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.

Court records show Johnson was an associate of the Charlotte-area branch of the United Blood Nation gang, or Bloods. Three gang members robbed a mattress store owned by Douglas and Deborah London. Those three were charged, and they discussed that Doug London was the lone eyewitness who could identify one of the suspects and that he needed to be eliminated.

Prosecutors say Johnson was present at gang meetings during which the Londons’ murder was discussed.

The sentence was handed down Thursday in Charlotte.
