Lawmakers welcome local students at Statehouse

Two state senators who represent portions of Bartholomew County recently welcomed to the Statehouse in Indianapolis local students who served as pages in February and March.

State Sen. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, welcomed:

  • Breanna Graves, of Columbus, a homeschooled student
  • Julia Graves, of Columbus, a homeschooled student

State Sen. Chip Perfect, R-Lawrenceburg, welcomed:

  • Haley Embry, of Hope, attends Hauser Jr./Sr. High School
  • Anna Emmert, of Columbus, attends Columbus East High School

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senators.

Students in grades 6 to 12 participate in the page program Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve Wednesdays.
