COLUMBUS
Paul H. Martin, 92, of Columbus, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Paul was born May 28, 1925, in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of Maynard R. and Ann Buckley Martin Sr.
He joined the United States Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Martin worked at Dunlap Construction Company for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. While serving at Dunlap’s as a superintendent, he was instrumental in the construction of several architecturally award winning buildings. He enjoyed raising cattle and pets. Paul loved IU basketball.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Sharon) Martin of Indianapolis; siblings, Ralph (Gloria) Martin of Columbus, Helen (Dick) Miller of Washington and Warren (Sandy) Martin, also of Columbus; many, many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fay; sisters, Lorraine and Donna Mae; and brother, Maynard.
Following the family’s wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Garden City Church of Christ with Brian Gilroy and Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garden City Church of Christ or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
