Myra M. Davis Day

JACKSON, MICH.

Myra M. Davis Day, 88, passed away on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 at Highlands Assisted Living & Memory Care in Jackson, Michigan after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Myra was born February 5, 1930 in Scipio, Indiana. She was the daughter of Samuel and Myrtle Kirby Chamberlin.

Myra is survived by her children, Karen Davis, Gary (Donna) Davis, Claressa (Rick) Melin, and Teressa (Jerry) Shoemaker; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She retired from Cummins Engine Company and lived in Columbus, Indiana most of her life. She moved to Jackson, Michigan in 1999 where she attended the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing Euchre, and fishing. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Myra was preceded in death by husbands Donald Davis and Larry Day; a son, Robert; grandson Robbie; as well as sisters Fern Day, Florence Hasch; and brothers Phillip, Charles, William, and Willard Chamberlin.

A special thanks to the staff at the Highlands facility for all their loving care these past two years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Floyd Fisher officiating.

Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to time of service Wednesday.

Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in memory of Myra to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
