NEW ORLEANS — A man accused of causing a wreck that killed another driver and seriously injured a passenger in Louisiana has been charged with negligent homicide. Times-Picayune reports 38-year-old Jason Georgi was arrested in a Monday wreck on Interstate 10 in St. James Parish. An investigation by Louisiana State Police found Georgi was driving a 2016 Hino box truck westbound on I-10 when traffic began to slow and he rear-ended a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze.

The Cruze’s driver was pronounced dead the scene and the passenger was taken to a hospital.

The newspaper reports impairment is not suspected to be a factor, though a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers.

Georgi is also charged with negligent injuring and following too close. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
