James Harris Wyatt, Jr.

Mr. James Harris Wyatt, Jr., 95, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center.

He was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on October 17, 1922, to the late James H. and Dora (Blair) Wyatt.

Funeral services will be at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church in Freetown on Tuesday, April 10 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

On December 23, 1948, he married Johnola Day; she survives.

He served during World War II as a paratrooper in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division, where he earned a Purple Heart.

He retired from Repp & Mundt Construction Co. as a construction superintendent, after over 30 years of service.

He was an avid gardener.

Above all else, he was a wonderful family man.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Johnola Wyatt; children, Charles R. (Linda) Wyatt, Jesse (LouAnn) Wyatt, John (Sandy) Wyatt, Deborah Stover, James “Tip” Wyatt, and David (Barbara) Wyatt; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Paul Wyatt, daughter, Harriet Thompson; brother, Glenn “Bud,” and sisters, Helen, Sybil, Henrietta, Catherine, Rosemary, Frances, Elizabeth and Carolyn.

Memorials may be written to Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church Cemetery or Charity of Choice, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
