FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — A memorial service will be held Monday for Gary Nuckols, a Fredricksburg attorney and community leader.

Nuckols, a Fredericksburg native, died Thursday after suffering a sudden brain hemorrhage April 1. He was 68.

Monday’s service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Episcopal Church.

Nuckols, a 1974 graduate of University of Virginia law school, joined the Richmond-based law firm of Hirschler Fleischer in 2001, working out of its Fredericksburg office.

His community work included serving as president of the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad, the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association and the Dominion Club. Nuckols also served as board chairman of the Fredericksburg Area Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Cal Ripken Sr., Foundation and treasurer of the UVA Club of Fredericksburg.

Survivors include his wife and two children.
