HELENA, Mont. — The Montana High School Association has approved a plan to hold the Class C 8-man state football championships at a neutral site beginning this season.

The 2018 title game will be held at Naranche Stadium in Butte while the 2019 game will be held at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. The two cities will rotate host duties.

MHSA Executive Director Mark Beckman says 70 percent of the schools surveyed supported the change. He says the schools wanted to hold the title games on turf in a place where there might be more attendance.

He says the Class C 6-man schools will be watching to see how the change is received and if they might want to consider playing their title games at a neutral site.
