Black Lives Matter hosts event against gun violence

Black Lives Matter of Columbus will host an event called Black Lives Against Gun Violence at 2 p.m. April 21 on the steps of Columbus City Hall, 123 Washington St. downtown.

Organizers say the gathering is in response to unarmed black lives lost to gun violence at the hands of police nationwide. Of those shootings, the killing of Stephon Clark in Sacramento, California, on March 18 has been among the most publicized. Two officers said they thought he had a gun, but he was holding a cellphone.

Various activists will speak, followed by a short march.
