BALTIMORE — Baltimore police say a body has been recovered from the area where a 33-year-old man disappeared two weeks ago after jumping into the water while fleeing officers.

The Baltimore Sun reports the unidentified body was found Thursday morning in the water near a pier in Fells Point.

Det. Nicole Monroe told the newspaper she didn’t have any information about the body yet, including whether it was that of a male or female.

The area is where police said Gokhan Oztas jumped into the water and began swimming away.

The department has said officers initially responded to a report of a man behaving aggressively, began interviewing Oztas and realized he was wanted on a warrant.

Police divers had searched for him in the same area multiple times since he disappeared.
