Garage fire destroys truck, damages home’s siding

Fire destroyed a detached garage at 3445 Virginia St.

Columbus firefighters were sent to the address at 11:41 p.m. Saturday and found visible flames as they approached the Eastridge Manor neighborhood.

The nearby home, just a few feet from the garage, began to show signs of heat damage as vinyl siding began to melt, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.

Located on the opposite side of the garage was a RV, which also had visible damage from flames and radiant heat, Wilson said.

The garage fire was under control within 15 minutes, Wilson said. A pickup truck, an all-terrain vehicle and a lawn mower were destroyed by fire in the garage, he said.
